The garden club types keep these homes around
the "Four Corners" (Jewell Lake and Raspberry) a secret. It's so
sunny and warm in this part of town (and a part of Spenard, too)
that the microclimate is about like Seattle! Things grow here
you couldn't grow anywhere else in the Anchorage bowl.
And check out the size of the yard: 11,124
square feet, more than a quarter acre, much oversized for a
traditional neighborhood. It's at the back of cul-de-sac at the
end of the street -- no through traffic. Note the gravel RV
parking pad on the north side of the home.
The garage is immense. The owner's hobby is
woodworking and he outfitted the back half of this 748 square
foot garage for it. Or you could probably fit as many as three
cars in there.
A four bedroom home, there's 1812 sq.ft. of
living space in its four bedroom layout. There's two full baths.
What would imagine a woodworker would do with
his home? Remodel it, of course. Try hand-crafted maple
cabinetry and maple flooring. The extensive remodeling includes
new lights, a super-quiet Bosch dishwasher and many other
refinements not often found in homes built 25 or more years ago.
Another pleasant surprise is the master bedroom
suite. It's extra large because the home was expanded to create
the large garage just described, and above it more room for the
master.
