I've seldom been so proud to market a home.
"Impeccable taste" hardly describes the love and care that's
gone into the remodeling of this home, and its gardens and
landscaping. If making a home truly beautiful and comfortable
can be considered an art form, this is Rembrandt.
Have you ever encountered the popular best
seller "The Not So Big House: A Blueprint for the Way We Really
Live," by Sara Susanka and Kira Obolensky? That's this home. Intimate, warm, and simply
exquisite everywhere.
The perennial gardens in front need minimal
care: hardly any fussy annuals to stress over. The trees include
a larch that turns bright yellow in the fall, several
eating-variety apples and crabapples, lilac, mayday, spruce,
scotch pine. There's a raised garden in back for vegetables: and
a big sunflower that's just coming up.
Inside everything is new. The entry from the
front door, and from the garage is granite. The flooring is real
red oak planking, not a laminate. The windows and doors have all
been replaced with the Alaska Window from Fairbanks, a
high-energy efficiency product that opens in the normal fashion,
and from the top. The front door is a high-security model.
There's a beautiful rising-sun stained glass window above it.
Double duette window coverings are on most windows.
The living room has to skylights to enhance what
is already a sunny south-facing home. Both were recently
replaced with a plastic-framed model to guard against
condensation and leaking. On that south wall under the skylights
is a ledge with silk plants that are back-lit for peaceful
evening ambiance. There's a gas direct-vent fireplace with fan
on a remote control.
Most of the kitchen cabinetry is new. The
countertops are tile. All the appliances are new, including the
gas Jennaire range with extra burners. The new fridge is
included in the price. The new sink comes with a hot water
dispenser. The new Maytag dishwasher, like the rest of the
appliances, has a stainless steel front. (But please note: the
Tiffany lamp shown in the photos is a personal property item
that will be replaced by the seller.)
Both baths have been redone with new fixtures
and vanities. There's track lighting in the hallway between the
living and bedroom areas. All carpeting in the bedroom and baths
is new. The master bedroom is double-sized: it has an
included study. One could easily revert to making that separate
area into the bedroom it once was: the door is still there
behind the sheetrock.
The roof was replaced last year. So was the
water heater. And the garage door opener.
There's an "executive dog run". It includes a
kennel area in the garage, a door to the outside, and a full dog
run outside beside the big new deck.
The photos try to do it all justice, but look
them over and call me for a showing. Don't wait: I'm not puffing
when I say this type of home rarely becomes available.
