How to Get There

Here's an Eagle River home at the top of a hill that's really worth the drive! As many know, sun in the winter in Eagle River is sometimes hard to find because of surrounding mountains. Here, however, you are high enough to capture direct sunlight even on the shortest days of the year. I drove up to take these pictures January 2, only a couple weeks after the solstice.

The two acres of trees and natural surroundings give a feeling of living in Alaska. There's seven acres of undeveloped property behind this home. All the surrounding lots back on Chugach State Park.

A three-car garage was recently constructed with a workshop. The garage and the shed are linked with wood pathways and covered as can be seen in the photos below and in the virtual tour. The yard has large landscaped areas. Note the trampoline.

The ground level has a master suite, an office and a truly elegant master bath. There's a huge family room that exits directly to the outside.

The downstairs also has the mechanical room that has what appears to be a newer gas-fired boiler and a newer continuous Amtrol hot water unit that runs off the boiler.

Upstairs sunlight floods into every corner of this home. With high ceilings, open beams, gleaming hardwood flooring and big windows it's a real pleasure to feel part of Alaska when living here.

Directions: From Eagle River Road and Eagle River Loop (at Wal-Mart) head east away from Eagle River about two miles to Eagle River Lane, at the top of the long hill. Left on Eagle River Lane which becomes Steeple after passing through the neighborhoods known as Heritage. The road switches back and forth; follow all the way to then end. My sign marks the middle of the three driveways which takes you up to the home.
